Balmy is a personal eczema journal for you or your child. It was built so that your entries and photos stay yours.
What we collect
Nothing. Balmy has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not collect, see, sell or share any of your information. Balmy does not use artificial intelligence to analyse your skin or your photos.
Where your entries and photos are kept
- Your entries (itch levels, body areas, night wake-ups, skin signs, tags, notes, care reminders) and your photos are stored inside the Balmy app on your iPhone. Photos you take in Balmy are not added to your photo library.
- If iCloud is turned on for Balmy, they are also backed up to your own private iCloud database, run by Apple. Only you can access it; we cannot see it. You can turn this off in iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud.
Camera and photo library
Balmy asks for camera access only when you choose to take a photo, and opens your photo library only when you choose to add a photo from it. Only the photos you pick are saved in Balmy.
Face ID
If you turn on the lock, Balmy asks iOS to check your Face ID, Touch ID or passcode. This check happens on your iPhone; Balmy never receives your face or fingerprint data.
Children
Balmy is meant for adults. A parent or caregiver can keep a journal about their child's skin; that journal is treated exactly like your own: it stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, and we never receive it. Balmy is not directed at children under 13.
Doctor summaries
Summaries and PDF files are created on your iPhone. They are only shared when you choose to share them.
Reminders
Daily and care reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. The daily reminder text does not mention your health.
Purchases
Balmy Plus is purchased through Apple. Apple handles payment; we never receive your payment details.
Deleting your data
Delete a profile in Balmy › Settings to remove its entries and photos, or delete the Balmy app to remove everything from your iPhone. To remove the iCloud copy, go to iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage › Balmy › Delete Data.
Not medical advice
Balmy is a journal. It does not diagnose, treat or give medical advice. Please talk to your doctor about your or your child's skin.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
